Cross Herts Cricket Challenge

trophy presentationOur late summer gala was a great success with about 60 people attending. The sun shone, the croquet was edgy, the hog roast was delicious and the Cockspur Rum all got drunk. And to cap it all CHeCC narrowly won the cricket match against Hertfordshire County Council's (HCC) Children, Schools and Families (CSF) Department.

One highlight of the afternoon was the stunning catch taken by CSF Commissioning Officer, Kulbir Lalli to dismiss David Ring, Head of Access to Education off the bowling of County Councillor Richard Roberts, who was denied a wicket from his next ball by a no ball.

Man of the MatchJohnny Brough (pictured left), a counsellor at Youth Talk, won the Cockspur Rum man of the match award for the enormous six that nearly brought Hemel Hempstead's traffic to a standstill!

More importantly, some valuable networking and partnership building was achieved. As well inviting the CSF cricketers to a performance review following their defeat, John Harris, Director of CSF, applauded the dynamic relationship that exists between HCC and CHeCC and applauded the valuable work that CHeCC and its member agencies undertake helping HCC meet its Every Child Matters objectives.
